Turk T38 Mauser Value
« on: July 11, 2007, 05:21:57 AM »
I have a really nice K Kale Turk Mauser and I wonder what it is worth. Of course, the bolt doesn't match, but the headspace is right on. I would classify it as at least very good with 85% blue and a perfect bore. Any ideas?

Thank you,

Steve

I would say depending on condition, no more than $100. $150 -200 if it were matching. I see alot of people trying to turn a profit with the surplus stuff at gun shows.  It is very difficult, many are asking high prices but they are not selling.  The CCR license is so cheap, you can get a better deal online than any gun show.  You can get a  Yugo for $119  large or small ring(matching) or a German for $200-300 (depending if you want the Nazi markings or not) with a CCR license online.  The value of your gun would be worth more to you than it would be on the market.  I have an old Spanish Mauser on the large ring action that was converted to 30-06.  I have not gotten rid of it because it won't bring the $140 I paid for it at a gun show. The only military surplus that is hot right now is the SKS's.  The sources are drying up and everybodys buying them because of the recent proposed gun legislation.

30-30's right on.  I would say up to $120, though, if the stock is in good shape and/or been properly cleaned and refinished.  Most out there won't have 85%+ bluing, so that's a benefit.

I have one that I traded for---after selling another one I had.  In all, it's not worth it to get rid of it.  Shoot it occasionally and enjoy.
And you can rebarrel, rebolt, refinish, restock and have a nice little sporter rifle.  It would be more $$ than buying one in the long run, but a nice project to work on over a few years.
