Remington 742 Ejection Port Cover Installation Question
« on: June 18, 2007, 12:41:22 PM »
Is there an easier way to install the plastic ejection port cover on a Remington 742, other than removing the barrel, and sliding it out thru the receiver? I will disassemble the action and barrel if necessary, but it seems as if there is an easier way. The barrel takedown nut on my 742 is really torqued down, and I think I need a special wrench to remove it.

Its easy, just remove the magazine and flip the 740-742-7400 over.
remove the pin that holds the handle to the bolt and then the handle.
You can fit the plastic cover between the receiver and the bolt from the under side.
As a gunsmith I have fixed a few 742's and have three for sale.
One 6MM Remington and two 3006s
