Model 62 draws blood
« on: June 29, 2007, 01:25:45 AM »
My works in progress is a M62 in 256 Win Mag that was severely bubba-ed. She's wearing a period correct Lyman All American 10X in Weaver mounts at present. Loads worked up with Hercules 2400 (old stock) and Alliant Re#7 show great promise using the 75gr Sierra Varmint bullet. No chrony yet as its still a works in progress. It took 7yrs to get this far and patience is a virtue.
A 100yd ground hog victim didn't complain and the hit below the ears on a side shot bears out my calculated trajectory of 2" high at 100. More range time is necessary to verify my ballistic calculations on point blank shots on beyond the 100 yard range. This is a nice little cartridge, but reload info is spotty and don't meet my standards for specifications. We'll see how it goes the rest of the summer.
