I have had the best accuracy with the 50 grain v-max at 2.250 Cartrige OAL cutting holes at 100 yards ,I never tried seating them out any further, but i cant see my gun shooting any better than it already does.

Here is a pic (from right to left) of a standard COL for a 55gr fmj and then what COL I load them (2.375) at + the 75gr BTHP 2.400 any longer and I start to see rifling marks.

I loaded some 50gr V-Max at 2.345  to try and my chamber length is 2.445. The only way to get closer to the rifling is to go with heavier bullets, which I have not tried yet.

I seat my bullets .150 into the case neck. I'm shooting 50-55 Nosler  Ballistic Tips. I can pop ground squirrels out to 200 yards with it.
Check your free bore depth first. Mine has about .240 to .250 free bore. Might work out real well for you. Give it a try. Magazine length is not really an issue with a Handi Rifle.

Every barrel of every gun is different, this max OAL number, while pertinant to a barrel it is known to work in, isnt really what you need to know. Yours most likely will be different. Our Handis dont have the mag dimention to worry about. So thats one less head ache.

You need to get your chamber dimentions, from YOUR barrel. More improtantly, the amount of leade or throat legnth. Try differend legnths until you find what your barrel prefers. A longer throat will allow you to seat a bullet farther out. While a short throat will not. But you can still acheive the same distance off the lands reguardless. This is the more important dimention.

Good Luck,
