I've been thinking again

Now that H&R has come out with the 45 colt barrel , maybe a re-chamber to the .577-450 Martini-Henry , granted the neck of the case would have to be opened up about .006 to fit the bore and it would only shoot Black Powder . I would have to have a set of dies made for it but it would be one of a kind .

What do you all think ?

That's something different!! One of my friends at the range shoots a couple of em, he has a blast, but shooting blackpowder in a 20" barrel might not be very efficient, but should be fun. There are smokeless loads for it tho.

Tim

I too was thinking 20" may be to short , but what about a BC with a 36" , the 577-450 shows a bullet of .450 as opposed to the .458 of the BC bore ? do you think that the neck could be opened up enough to work with the .458 bullets ?

It would be fun to shoot the old cart. even with brass at $ 2.90 a piece .  :o

Well, you'll notice the one link shows smokeless data using .458" bullets!! ;D The 32" BC barrel should be fine. ;)
