Breech plug replacement intervals

 ???How often should this be done?I shoot Triple7 in my Omega and dont shoot more than 70grs..I also use small pistol primers in Variflames and lately have noticed an increase in breech fouling and a drop in accuracy and consistency.This plug has about 600 shots through it.T/C doesn't have recommendations regarding new plugs so I'm curious, How often should you swap plugs and what is the largest the flame aperture should be?  Thanks.

I don't have any info about your question.  I was wondering how you like the variflame.  You see alot on here about the 25 acp conversions for tc's.  I don't really have any problem with the 209's, but half the fun is trying different combinations looking for something better.

I tried the vari-flame.  Used CCI small rifle primers.  Neither my Lyman Mustang nor my brother-in-law's Knight Disc would fire them off, even with 3 or 4 hammer strikes.

No problems with the vari-flames using either small rifle or pistol primers.Never had a misfire and accuracy is great.No crud ring with T-7.So far have  fired them over 20x with no problems.Keeping them clean is important.Regarding misfires though,perhaps the primers aren't seated fully either because they are just pushed in or because of fouling.Having used a Lee Loader for years I'm comfortable giving the primer tool a little whack with a rawhide mallet.The Omega has a very small firing pin and the hammer spring isn't the strongest so fullly seated primers are hyper critical. ope it helps

Oops.What I meant about primer seating is if it isn't fully seated the hammer blow energy will be used to fully seat THEN ignite the primer.So a marginal hammer blow will give problemr.Also the 1st blow might crack the priming compound disk making ignition impossible.

I would take this breach plug to a gun smith and get a Savage ML ll vent liner instaled in it. That way you would never have to buy a breach plug , just put a new vent liner in it.
