« on: February 06, 2007, 10:57:59 PM »
I was informed today that my Vectrix is in...I decided to go with a whisker biscut rest and spott hogg real deal sights.  Now it's up to arrow choices, what in your opinions is the best all round carbon hunting arrow out there? ???

IMO it doesn't matter, I use backhawk vapors, but I've never heard anyone complain about accuracy or reliability problems from any brand of carbons.  More important is get a weight that is spined correctly for your bow and use fletching that your bow likes.

I use Beman ICS Hunters/Ventures with my Whisker Biscuit. That rest is extremely quiet if you get the right arrow, but the whiskers can make some noise on the draw if you get the wrong arrows. Carbons with the camo finish on them seem to have a somewhat textured finish that makes noise. The Hunter/Ventures have a real slick, black finish that makes no noise, so that will be really important when you choose an arrow. Also, vanes like Blazers or Duravanes seem to work bewst instead of something with feathers or thin/weak vanes.
You only take one shot at a time, so don't waste it :cb2:

I use Maxima Hunter's.  They are by far the best arrow I have shot. I have them matched with 2" Blazer vanes.  Nice setup especially down range they show their quaility.  <20 yards I think any quaility arrow will do fine, but its fun to shoot at 60 yards+ and actually watch how smooth the arrow shoots.  btw, they are pricey, but I figure a dozen will last at least 2 years.

IMHO,you cant go wrong with any of the arrows out today. As been stated just make sure that you use an arrow thats spined for your set up.With the Bisquit,i think that the Blazers are the way to go,just make sure to put a drop of glue in front, and back of vain,or feather of your choice. One real good arrow is the Gold Tips.pan.

Thanks for all the input, I love to hear what others are using.  I decided back in Feb to go with the Easton Axis in 340.  They seem to be great so far...Have killed many a target...I did notice that at -30 they will shatter if you glance one off a tree.  I try not to do that anymore.

Never had a problem with Gold Tip XT Hunters. All the top brands are pretty close anyway, I believe

I like to see the number of CX fans here. There have been consistently proven to be THE most consistent carbon shafts available. From spine to weight tolerance, you simply can't find a better shaft in the industry! My favs are the CX 3D Selects and now new for '07 are the CX Maxima Selects that should be equally impressive!

Goldtips!  They are virtually indestructible and fly really well.  Last time I checked they were fairly reasonable too.  I bought 18 of them probably 4-5 years ago.  Except for the 2 I ruined by virtue of a robinhood, and the one that I hit with another arrow and ruined, I've got them all (ok, maybe I lost 2 of them also).  You can shoot these things into trees, deer, armadillo etc. and still use them again and again.  I think they've got a lighter weight version out too but I've still got the older ones.  If I ever shoot them all up I'll look at the current versions.  Good luck and let us know what you decide.
