Californiahunter9, I've killed alot of coyotes with a 270 back when I hunted in Mexico. The rifle I took down there was what I called a junk gun, ( just in case they took it ) an old heavy barreled mod 70 Win not worth alot of money, but did it ever do the job. By the way, I had gun permits and a Mexican hunting lic, I was legal.
The 270 knocked the heck out of the coyotes, I was hunting on competition hunts at the time and was taking no prisoners, just bringing back a proff of kill to prove I did it.
If I remember right I used 130 gr bullets, never had a runner in the years I used that 270. Most of my predator hunting was done with a 22-250 a 220 swift or a 243, but that 270 was a great caliber if you don't care about pelts.
Another thing, when the action heats up, you'll never notice the recole.
