Does anyone own a KSRH-7454 454 Casull??

I'm considering one of these, 7 1/2" barrel. What I was wondering how bad the recoil is. I have shot a box of shells from my friends 44 mag. Super redhawk with a 7 1/2" barrel & I loved it! This would be my first pistol, I want something that's fun & that would be good for deer hunting. I reload, so the ammo price isn't a big concern. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you.

The SRH is heavy enough, that recoil isn't all that much more than what you're used to. I'd certainly rather fire it, than any 4" S&W M29 .44mag or M58 .41mag (which I both have).

I mounted a small-body red dot sight on mine, but my personal limitation on game with any handgun is 100yds, so it works for me. YMMV.

I don't handload, and found the mid-range Winchester 250gr load ideal for deer-sized game, in terms of both terminal performance and recoil/recovery. I plink/practice 75% of the time with .45 Colt loads.

It's packed n a Bianchi H.U.S.H. across-the-chest type bandolier holster - which I can slide around to the back of my shoulder when I'm hunting afoot, as the gun is in my hands.

i don't think you want to shoot the .454 C' too much from the bench, first of all.   i load a .44 mag'  7 1/2" Ruger SBH with national bullet co's  265 gr' RNFP, with 21 gr's of wc-820 in Rem' brass that is factory-primed.   it kicks a bunch from the bench.   it is not unmanageable, but it kicks fairly hard!   some guys recently thought i had a .454 C' just listening to it and watching the recoil, i guess.     a SRH in .454 Casull would kick a whole lot more and be more than i'd want to work with regularly from a bench.    it would require a two-hand hold in the field as well.   otherwise you'd be busting your head with the hammer hitting it from recoil, i'd expect.    if i can't put more than 40 rounds at a time downrange from a handgun when at a bench then i don't think i'm practicing with it enough to matter.   

my point is, don't think that the .44 mag' (my favorite handgun round 'fwiw') is kicking anywhere near what a .454 C' will do.    Larry Kelly's and J.D. Jone's book HUNTING FOR HANDGUNNERS' and some of the Handgun Digest books will give you a better idea of what i'm saying.    the .454 is a 'factory-packaged killler'!

BTW - I don't know about the "fun" part - but IMHO, if you're gonna hunt with any handgun, you better get used to a two-handed hold, either the Weaver stance or and isosceles hold or a variation of either.
What works best for me, when making a hunting shot is a "push/pull method, wherein I push forward with the main grasping hand (the one with the trigger finger) and pull back at the same time with my other hand, which is wrapped outside the grip and main shooting hand. It locks me in solid, and I can easily pivot at the waist for moving shots.
