Shelf life of Black Mag 3

Found some Black Mag powder but it looked a bit dusty like it's been sitting there a while....whats the shelf life on this stuff???

That is one of the problems with BM3 - shelf life.... It really could be good, but more than likely it has changed to big clumps of powder in the container.  You will not know until you open it up.  That is one of the reasons that a lot vendors quit handling it.

It could be just fine....
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

Shelf life is quite long. Even if the powder clumps which some batches were prone to do; it usually can be broken up and will be just fine. Magkor is working out a merger with MDM and will hopefully be back on the market with Black Mag'3 and they claim that with the merger they will have a much better distribution system from what they have had in the past. The last shipments of BM3 before they started the merger with MDM had an additional process that made the powder less prone to clump and also made batch to batch more repeatable for performance. MDM is marketing the Thundercharge which is made with BM3 in solid form but not one of my favorite ideas.
