1975 Super Grade 458
« on: May 09, 2005, 12:40:12 PM »
I have the opportunity to buy a 1975 Super Grade in 458 Win. Mag. It is missing the rear sight blade but otherwise is in great condition.
Is this a good deal?  New they are over $4000 currently.

That depends on what you would have to pay for it.

Are you talking about a custom shop gun? Where did you come up with the $4000 figure?

It is my impression, based upon the current catalogue tha the Super Grade was only available as a Custom Shop rifle.  Am I wrong?

The Super Grade is still in regular production, but apparantly not in .458...

The deal is not too bad if you are collecting them and not looking for just a good big game caliber. The 458 WIN is basically dead with the advent of the Lott and 416 REM. For not much more you could get a new CZ in a modern big game caliber.
