big bullets and lots o h110
« on: July 05, 2007, 11:08:25 PM »
So I just got in my cast performance bullets, and now need to good loads to start with (when I say start, I mean dino hunting)  I have the 360 grain WLNGC for my .454 casull, and would like to hear some good hunting loads, and then also some max loads, and also got some 320 grain also WLNGC for the .44 mag which also hunting and max loads.  The .44 magnum has a titanium cylinder and can handle a little bit of +p (not a lot), so I wouldn't mind some hot recommendations for that.

I would prefer to use H110.  The only pistol powders I have on hand are H110, unique, and titegroup, and I'm not planning on going to town any time soon.  (They came with some load data for H4227, which I don't have, but I have a LOT of H110)  Gotta love that H110....

I don't think that GB will like the posting of "hot recommendations" that are outside what the load books show...out of liability and a general concern for his members. Any reloader worth his salt should be able to develop his own max loads for his own pistols, but here are published loads as a guide:

Hodgdon shows a .454 starting load of 21.0 grains of H110 and a 360-grain bullet, with a max load of 24.0 grains.
They also show a .44 starting load of 20.0 grains of H110 and a 325-grain bullet, with a max load of 22.0 grains.

Thank you , all may notice that i do not respond to every post made on this forum BUT i DO read them all and will delete any posts that may result in someone being hurt . Just because the load will work in one gun does not mean that it will work in another . so if you can not back up a load with good data from a powder , firearms or bullet maker don't post it here .

I use Win-296 for all of my Hot handgun loading. It the same thing, at least as close as you can get, to the H-110 but I can buy it cheaper. DO NOT USE THE H-110 in lite loads. It can do bad thing when there is not enough powder in the case. Stay with Hodges loading range with this powder.
