Quiz Time what American Accent do you have?

Check this out mine was Dead on with the shaded area in WI for North Central. What is your accent was it accurate for you?

Interesting test. North Eastern accent but It's the only place in the US I have never lived.

That was fun.  I've always argued that I don't have an accent because the people in the midwest speak the average American English that everyone else distorts with their accent.

That thing agreed with me:
("Midland" is not necessarily the same thing as "Midwest") The default, lowest-common-denominator American accent that newscasters try to imitate. Since it's a neutral accent, just because you have a Midland accent doesn't mean you're from the Midland.

It said I was Midland.
I'm from Northern New York and therefore don't have the "typical Nu Yawk" accent.
I always got ragged on about that when I was in the service.

Fun test, it pegged me as southern. Guess so, born in Kentucky, family out of Va. and Tenn. Lived in Ga. as a kid for awhile.

Born and raised in Michigan. Test said I have a Northern accent. However I know I picked up a little bit of a drawl from being around many southerners while in the Army,but that was 20+ years ago so I've lost it.

Enjoyed the quiz.  Born and raised in Texas.  Have always lived here and it grouped me as northern.  ???  The only thing I can attribute it too is my job.  I do a bunch of client presentations and I have to hold back my Texas twang.

I figured that I would not be able to take the test cause I don't have a microphone :o ;D

Mine was accurate and IL, IN, plus some on either side classified us as midland in lieu to Midwest, or what the News casters try to imitate. The Conservative ones
Thank You! Some of us (myself included) do have a few phrases that grow on us due to a co-worker or good friend from other parts...
For instance, I cannot help but to pronounce (Right Here) as Rye cheer and have been doing it for several years!

You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for.

Big surprise, I grew up in the Buffalo area.
