.22 Cheetah MK I
« on: March 16, 2006, 12:57:17 AM »
I just finished reaming out my barrel to .22 Cheetah MKI Tuesday.

If all goes well IÂ’ll fire form some brass later today after I put finishing touches on the chamber. I want to polish it a little bit more, itÂ’s almost a mirror finish now but when IÂ’m done it will be.

Barrel used was a 24” Fluted 22-250.
Brass is Winchester .243Win. necked down to .22

IÂ’m in high hopes to hit the range next week with some loaded fire formed brass.

IÂ’ll keep ya all posted.

and then the barrel will be gone.

Watch it if you bring that beast to the P-dog shoot, i would hate for you to burn your barrel out that quick.

i'll be looking for that range report, how fast do you plan on sending them.

Congrats on that rechamber, take your time between shots and your barrel should last pretty well, but I'm sure you knew that.  I'm jealous of your rechamber, seems similar to the 22-243 that was a topic a while back....

Ya I was going to do the 22-243Imp. but couldn't find a reamer to rent.
Everyone wanted to sell me one so I went with this one.

Mitch I'll be shooting it really slow and easy, I didn't let any of my barrels get hot last year.

I wonder how it shot.

I would say it shot badly, if it had been a great shooter you would have seen target pictures and lots of other stuff about it.  Larry

i have a 26 inch barreled .22/.308 Improved on a Remington 700 action.   The .22 MK I Cheetah that i know is the .308 small primer Bench Rest case necked down to .22 and the shoulder moved forward, with a shorter case neck.  This is not what i have.  Mine has the 40 degree shoulder but not the shorter neck.   i still have a few hundred necked down and blown out .308 small primer bench rest cases for my gun.   They hold a little more powder.

Good luck with your new gun.

I think it sounds interesting and am in just the thinking stage of it. :-\ I would like to hear from someone who has this round and how it shoots. I like speed demons and this sounds like one. If you guys have any other speed demons that work in the Handi let me know. ;D Fast and flat is what I likes. ;D ;D ;D

All max loads with 55 grain Nosler BT

Varget 45.0 grain=4000fps
BL-C2 47.0 grains=4025fps
H4895 44.5grains=4058fps

All from your 243's 24" barrel..How much faster do you want to go?

I haven’t fired a bullet threw this barrel yet.
I got all the brass fire formed I’ve just never ordered a neck turner yet.

If all goes well this project will take the front seat in August and I’ll turn some necks and get it ready for yotties.
