Hi Mc!!,

I used it in the 45-120 BC the first time I shot it, Hodgdon calls for 95gr with a 500gr bullet, I loaded em up, they went bang, but I got a lot of leading in the bore, same thing I've experienced with hot loads and the all lead Powerbelts in my TC Black Diamond muzzleloader. On the 45-120, I come to a quick realization that I had to use 2 to 3 times as much of it per load to get the same velocity, but it costs the same as Hodgdon's smokeless powders, so I only used it that one time cuz I had some of it!! If I had the choice of Goex or T7 and could get either, I'd go for the Goex, it costs less from what I've seen lately, not as cheap as I paid for what I have now at $7 a pound, I think it's double that now.

Mc

I have not used the 777 but am on my 4th pound of Pyrodex Select and just love it in my 45/70 , from what i have learned the 777 is a little stronger so you do not need quite as much to get the same results .

That and the fact that the Pyrodex is about $3 a pound cheaper here .  :o

I've been using Pyrodex RS in my 45-70 loads, what fun. Groups at 100yds are about 3-4". I just picked up a pound of select and loaded up 20 with that, can't wait to try it. Sacrilege, I'm shooting jacketed bullets  ::). This stuff is really FUN to shoot and the Handi is just about the perfect rifle to shoot it out of, way easy to clean.
Sorry, don't know a thing about 777, that's probably one of the steps I'll be taking on my journey down the "dark side"...

PS, you might check out the CAS topic on this board, lots of good info there.
