Shooting Gallery/Bowen

Anybody catch the Shppting Gallery Show last nite? They devoted the show to Mr. Bowen and his work on handguns. They shot a couple of his creations,but had one that he wouldn't let them shhot. It was a single action 5 shooter that weighed in at 26 oz(If I remember correctly). It was chambered in a .50 cal  of some kind. Mr Bowen said that it was so light and came back so fast that you couldn't move your head out of the way before getting your eyes crossed.

Looks like that guy does some good work. Some of his pieces were works of art.

26 ounce 50 AE (Action Express, of Desert Eagle Fame) The 475 was no slouch...
Made the 26 ounce 44 mag look like a piece o cake!

I handled that 5oae at one of the linebaugh seminars and you actually have to feel how light it is to believe it. It feels like a plastic toy in your hands. I would have liked to touch it off but hamilton wasnt offering.

Lloyd, most folks, myself included, with little to no experience with heavy recoilers would probably get seriously hurt with such an animal. Seriously...besides, I'm sure Bowen hate cleaning the blood off his sights...

I dont think thats why hamilton didnt bring out the ammo. There were tons of big guns being shot  there. Many 500s and 475s including my two 4 inch 500s and a couple of linebaugh maximuns that would have at least as much recoil. After shooting cannon watts 500 max with full house 500 grain loads id have problems believing that any sixgun would be any stouter to shoot then that and I put quite a few rounds through kelly Brosts 458 lott encore and that thing would about shake the ground under you. I have to wonder if that gun isnt more of an exercise in art and what can be done then something that was buillt to be a gun that someone would shoot the snot out of.
