7-30 Waters ??
« on: July 11, 2007, 01:31:24 AM »
I ordered a bbl from MGM in 7-30 Waters that was on special for $200. They said I needed a 1-11 twist for the 120 grn bullet. The factory bbll is 1-9 . Do I need to change to the faster twist? The bbl is 13" .
THANKS

My Waters is a 1-9 twist.  All (most) information you find says that the 7-30 Waters is a 1-9 or 1-9.5 twist.  Something doesn't sound right about the 1-11.  I think it might be too slow.  Just my thoughts.  Maybe they had a 1-11 blank they need rid of?  Good-luck...BCB

That may be why the barrel is only $200.

Thanks for the info guys. I called MGM back and changed the order to the 1-9 twist. It seems that Shilen reccomends the 1-11 twist for up to 140 grn. bullets. The 7-30 is a different animal I guess.
