I think the 265 is designed for the 444 Marlin. My quess it would be a deep penetrator in a 44 Magnum with out much expansion. Last year I talked to an old timer that used this bullet in his 44 Magnum for bear protection. This fellow really liked Hornady Interlock bullets. He also used the 225 grain in his 338 Magnum Browning semi auto.
