Watched a young coyote hunt this afternoon.

Rather than get my traps ready for trapping I blew off the day and went metal detecting instead.I found some old silver coins and wheat pennies,it was a blast.
On the way home there is a Wildlife Refuge lake just north of my house.I saw a young coyote trot across the trail about 2 blocks ahead of me.I slowed down, then stopped where I saw him cross.He/she was sneaking through 10" grass towards the waters edge. When the coyote got close it would crouch then jump(about 3 feet) into the lake toward the ducks it was stalking. It never got close.I watched it try this 4 times,it was hilarious. It finally just trotted on down the shoreline.I've watched fox, coyotes and wolves hunt and never seen anything like this.I'm going to have to get a camcorder and carry it with me.
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!
