Pressure spikes at high end and low

I've heard that there can be pressure spikes at the low end of the reloading spectrum as well as the high end.  Is this true?  Is there any powders that have a linear relationship of amount of powder to pressure.

I have a handi rifle and want to load for lower pressure but higher than the usual reduced loads data

No none are perfectly linear. Some are more foregiving than others tho. For instance 2400 is very forgiving of lower charges. None are very forgiving on the upper end. Ball powders are especially bad about lowering charges below book specified mimimum charges.

There is only one powder that has data to back up what you want to do that I know of , thats H-4895 , its very forgiving as far as loads go and does a decent job in most rifle rounds .

What're ya loading? Different calibers, will act differently with low velocity loads.

I know ya don't want to load a 300WM down too far. It'll kick the crap out of ya TWICE with one pull of the trigger. Least that's what happen with me!

I'd look on some of the Powder Company's site or better yet give some of their TECH STAFFS a call.

I guess I should have explained that I shoot a 243.  I looked at h4895 on the internet and it looks like it is the way to go.  Alot of cast bullet shooters use it at various velocities.
