I'm looking for a straight tube scope, no bell on the forward end, in a fixed 4X or 6X, 3/4 or 1" tube dia, for a project.
I want to make a replica, period scope like the old ones on the Sharps type rifles. BUT, I want to be able to mate it to a modified modern scope ring (my modification). I'd also like to be able to thread an extension tube to the front of it to make it appear longer.
Just a crazy idea of mine.
I've looked at and may yet try a rimfire scope, but not sure how long it will stand up to the recoil of a black powder 38-55 load. For the price it might be worth a try anyway.
I have a Weaver K2.5 that fits the bill but would like a 4X or 6X (fixed power) if possible. Oh yes, for UNDER $150.
Does this even exist. I do not like the sliding scope ideas of the old original scopes, which is the reason I'm thinking of this project to begin with.
