Do any of you guys have a ruger alaskan? I'm thinking about getting one and was wondering how they were.

I held one in 44mag at the store and it was scary just how good it felt in my hands.  Like it was meant to be there.  The one I held looked like it was built like a tank.

I'm thinking about getting one myself, I've got to handle one a few times, just not sure what caliber to get it in. Let us know if you get one.

I got one three months ago its in 454 casull, it can also shoot 45 colt. With heavy 454 casull loads the recoil is fierce. I love this handgun.  I would recommend it for anyone in need of a large bore handgun for self defense against dangerous animals. They come in 44 mag, 480 ruger and 454. I think the 454 is the best because you can shoot two calibers.

i was at the range sighting in my 30.06 and a guy walked up with one and it was a 454 and he said it kicked like a mule and he was going to use it hog hunting

Maybe I'm wrong, but I assumed the question was about the new .375 Ruger in the new Hawkeye Alaskan rifle.

Was at the range a couple weekends ago and a guy had one.  I took two shots with iron sights and didn't think recoil was bad.  A scope would reduce recoil even more.

I want one.
