1100 won't eject
« on: January 29, 2008, 01:24:57 AM »
After having all the seals and springs replaced in a 16 guage 1100 (twice) it still will not cycle
the bolt far enough rearward to fully eject a spent shell. The ejector works fine when you pull
the bolt handle back.
Any suggestions? ???

Are you shooting light target loads? If so I have a 12ga 1100 that works fine with pheasant, turkey and slugs and oo buck, but will not cycle light loads. Have had it worked on to no fix. I was told it is common.

Make sure the gas holes in the barrel are clean.  If they are gummed up with carbon, not enough gas can blow back to cycle the action.  If it only has one hole, it is for heavy loads.  If it has two, it will cycle light loads.  This is the way my old 11-97 12 gauge was.  Don't know about the 16.

Two questions:
1:  Are you shooting in cold weather?
2: Are you oiling your magazine tube?

I shoot skeet every weekend during the winter. Its cold here in NY. When a shooter is having ejection problems with an 1100 the first thing I ask if they had oiled the magazine tube. If they said yes we'd take the barrel off and wipe the tube down. That usually works about 99% of the time. Cold weather and oil on the magazine tube makes for a sticky situation. ;)
