Trigger ?

As usual I have procrastinated, and did not do my trigger job, anticipating that I might buy a new barrel and did not want the factory to UN-do my lightening job.

I definitely want my trigger under 2 pounds, and I know that the factory trigger job will be at least 3 pounds at the lightest.

My question is whether there is any advantage to having the factory trigger job done before I follow the instructions in the FAQ section?

In other words do they do something that is beneficial that I would not be doing anyway...assuming that I follow the instructions properly

I don't recollect ever tearing one of their trigger jobs down, but I doubt they do anything that's not shown by Perklo or Raynor, the trigger work is pretty cut and dried.

If you haven't done one on it yet...and sending in on more barrels...then by all means have one done...it won't hurt...and may surprise you on just how good they can do these...Jon..the gunsmith there does exceedingly good work...Just include an additional  letter addressed to him inside the boxed gun when you send it back...He won't do a 2lb. trigger job for you...but what I have always gotten back has been excellent...

Thanks, now the decision becomes do I want just another barrel, or do I want a complete Handi.......I think that I am leaning toward the latter. Decisions, decisions

A additional barrel is definitely cheaper..and you can always get that additional set of stocks as well for when you do get another one...or to switch around now on the ones you have

Another option, buy either a frame or a complete rifle, sell the parts you don't need and send the frame in for the parts you want!! I just bought an SB2 frame, it's going in for a 357Mag or 44mag barrel, maybe both , and a checkered walnut TDC stock set, cost to send a frame only by Priority is less than $10 including insurance.

I had thought about buying a frame, at least until I saw what somebody posted a few days ago. The poster, I forget who, bought a frame that had been welded and who knows what had happened to it 

I think that I really will end up with two complete rifles, and if they are both new I suspect that the barrels should fit both...am I wrong? Is the manufacturing from H&R so bad that there is no interchangeability?

I wouldn't count on two new rifles having interchangeable barrels, they might, might not.

I've never bought a bad frame from anyone, have bought well over a dozen, I suppose it depends on who you're dealing with tho, if that happened here, I doubt the seller would still be here. I wouldn't let an isolated instance like that sour you on buying frames, I'd be more concerned about buying an SB1 frame that is said to be an SB2, but with the serial number, that can be verified with a phone call to H&R.
