Yeah for Sportsmans Warehouse...NOT
« on: July 16, 2007, 06:02:03 PM »
Sorry for the rant.  Wondering if anyone else had encountered this.  Called Sportsman's Warehouse today to see if they had a Buffalo Classic in stock.  The conversation went something like this.  Hi, I was wondering if you have a Buffalo Classic?  Not in stock.  Can you order one? Yes give me your name and # and I'll have the ordering dept. give you a call within the next 2 days.   A couple of hours later they called back.  I'm sorry, we cant order a BC for you.  Why not?  Because its a stock item.  But you don't have one in stock?  No, and we can't order stock items, only special order items.  So when will you have one in stock?  We don't know, we don't make that decision.  Who does?  Our corporate office.  So can you request one?  No, we get what they send us.  Can you put my name on a call list so if you get one in I can be notified?  No, that would be too much trouble.  How do I find out if you get one?  Just stop by the store.  But I live 2 hours away.  Well I guess you could call every week or two.   Uh yeah, I'll get right on that.

Anyone know a better place to find one?

RR has 30 of em in stock, and they're $25 less than SW, their shipping is reasonable, but they don't ship immediately for some reason.

Sounds great.  I just moved here, so I'll have to find someone with an FFL.

Thanks for the info.

You can find a local FFL with GBs transfer locator, just be sure to check them out first, the list is dated and not all info is current.

Same here. They have 3 Target .38-55 in stock but no Buffalo Classics. They don't seem to be able to order anything you ask for.

I have had excellent service at Sportsman's.  They have been VERY helpful, checking inventory in different stores and on two different occasions, they have shipped the gun I wanted to my local store.  Charged an additional $15 shipping fee, but I was ok as these were close out guns that are no longer made.

The last one I bought was a few months ago.  Maybe things have changed.   :P

I had that exact conversation with a Sportsman's Warehouse employee except it was concerning a pair of boots.  The only size they had left was a size 6.  I asked when they would get more in and was told "Well, we don't order our own stuff so I don't know if or when we will get more in".

Also, I live in Columbia, SC.  If there is a more uncomfortable place to be in the summer, please let me know.  Anyway, our deer hunting season starts August 15 and runs through January 1.  The weather is likely to be 95 degrees with 90% humidity.  Sportsman's Warehouse will be full of hunting clothes made of wool and those 4 in 1 parkas that those of us in SC can wear the last week or two of hunting season.

I'm not trying to bash Sportsman's Warehouse.  They have a store very close to where I live and if they closed I would be disappointed.

All their stores carry the same things, the one here in Fairbanks has things like Deer Bleat calls, Elk calls, and lights to attatch to guns for shooting varmits at night.  There is no Deer or Elk within 500 miles of Fairbanks, all the deer are in southeastern, and all the Elk are on Rasberry Island.  It is illegial to use a light to hunt anything with in Alaska.  BUT they do carry a lot of thing we need, like insulated waders, and wool clothing.  They do carry a full line of Outcast Inflatiable boats, but are unable to take care of warrenty problems.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

Last time I went to the one in Anchorage they had a huge display of turkey hunting goodies, vests, shotgun shells, stools etc., not many turkeys in Alaska... I went in to buy a powder measure set, an Uncle Mike's rifle carry sling, a couple boxes of large rifle primers and a box of 45 cal Hornady bullets. They were out of everything except the powder measure set (Lee dippers). Glad I didn't make a special trip...
