Painting a Handi.
« on: July 21, 2007, 02:04:15 PM »
Well guy's I just started to paint my 280 Handi. I am about 5 minutes into the spraying. I hope it turns out ok. Wish me luck. I hope I did not make a mistake.      Dale

Painting a rifle isn't something to worry about, if it doesn't come out the way you want, just do it again, paint is kewl that way!! :D

I'm sure you'll do a good job,

Tim

Spray it bro, you'll be fine. Like Tim said, if you mess an area up you can just redo it.

Let us see the results.

Ditto what Quick said. I did a plain wood monte carlo stock set with stone finish spray paint (for texture),
then flat clear coat to seal it (have to with this type paint), then Krylon Ultra Flat black camo paint.
You would swear it's a synthetic stock to look at it.

The first coat is looking good so far. I have painted the stocks and the receiver so far. I did not start the barrel yet. This is what I want it to look like. Here is the link. http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,118614.0.html  I bought the same paint and am following his directions. I never sprayed anything that mattered before. I hope it turns out. Dale

I cant wait to see the results Dale. If you do not feel comfortable with a certain step, experiment on some cardboard first to see the how the pattern will do.

Statelinerut. I guess you know I want my Handi to look like yours. Thanks for checking in on me. I will not be able to post pictures though. My camera is broke.   Dale

I am honored dude. I know it will turn out good. One thing like I said earlier, if you have a question or cant get a feel for what the pattern will look like, use the cardboard or something to sample it on. As long as you go slow, and spray light swaths when doing the pattern you will be fine.

It has held up well. I am very pleased so far. Now after this deer season, I will have a real good sense of how it will hold up.

Well guy's I just completed painting my 280 Handi. I have to say it came out pretty good. I learned some things on this one and next time I think I could do even a better job. Sorry I can't post any pictures I don't have a camera that works. You will just have to take my word for it being a decent job.       Dale
