What actually happens?
« on: July 20, 2007, 12:50:08 PM »
When a receiver gets shipped back to the factory for another barrel to get put on, what exactly are they doing to it? What are they looking for and what are they changing/modifying? My dad asked me this and I couldn't tell him since I didn't know. Thanks

The change the underlug to fit the frame with proper headspace by grinding the pivot and then making sure the latch engagement is correct. See the barrel fitting info in the FAQs for more details. They don't shim like we do when fitting a used barrel. You can also watch the factory tour video in the FAQs, they show a brief shot of the pivot grinding process.
