Hammer Extensions
« on: July 18, 2007, 10:49:18 PM »
Hi all......I am new here and thought this is just the place as I have a encore with two customs barrels. I have a Bullberry 243AI and have a Eabco Accuracy barrel in 30-06AI on order in which I am due to get  in a couple weeks. I look forward in learning alot of info on my T/C encore at this site.
I do have one question right off the bat. Do hammer extension void the warranty on the encore? I have heard that they do and this puzzles me if true. Also...are there any problems in using the hammer extensions.....

Thanks

First off, Welcome to the GBO forums!
Lots of good people and information here.

I haven't heard of the hammer extensions voiding the TC warranty!

The only thing (negative) that I've heard is that with the extra weight on the hammer, you can get misfires.
Some people have corrected this by simply removing the hammer extension.  I did!
Others have changed the hammer spring to a new heavier spring.
Now there is a third option, it's called the "Swing-Hammer" and from what I hear, you can send your receiver to TC and they will install it for around $75.00!

Again, Welcome!

be careful about sending your frame back to t/c.... if you have a trigger job done, they will revert it back to factory specs when you send the frame back to them. You can also purchase a hammer extension that's made out of aluminum which solved my misfire problems, along with a little headspace correction.... welcome to the forums and please don't hesitate to ask questions!!!
you wanna take my guns? go ahead, it's your arm!

Thank you very much for the warm welcome and thanks for the info. I have thought about having T/C to install the swing hammer as I have heard that they will do this.
Also heard about the misfire problems with the hammer extensions.
On my 243AI barrel...with the scope...I can cock the hammer without any problem. I am going to mount a 3x9 Burris Fullfield II scope on my eabco 30-06AI when I get it....this is what I will be deering hunting with and hopefully I can get to the hammer ok with gloves on....we will see.......
Thanks again....Paul

I just put together a 7 08 Pro Hunter in '08 and added a hammer ext. I got aluminum ext with misfires, but put heavy hammer spring and that stopped all problems! Love it!
It's time for THE SILENT MAJORITY to quit being silent!!
