in British Columbia,it is legal to take grouse ,ptarmigan and turkey with a rimfire rifle,and grouse and ptarmigan with a centerfire rifle[but not turkey]
Most rimfire taken grouse are taken as incidental harvest on logging roads by big game hunters traveling to and from hunting areas, or for ''camp'' meat,generally out for a walk mid day with a 22.
"Purist''grouse hunters hunt with dogs and shotguns,but as someone said-grouse breasts taste just as good shot with a 22-maybe better-because you aren't picking shot out.
We cannot even carry a handgun in the bush,much less hunt with one-unfortionate because I would like to pack a 22 handgun just for potting grouse while hunting deer or moose
