Corrosive vs. Non-Corrosive ammo
« on: June 06, 2003, 05:44:51 AM »
In an old bolt-action, this is really no big deal!
You can strip a model 98 mauser and do a pretty
good job of cleaning it in about 20 minutes!
When I can buy about 760 rds. of corrosive for
about the same price as 40 - 60 rds of non-corrosive!
There is not even a question there, I'm going "Corrosive".
I have even went to the point of pulling the FMJ bullets
and re-seating equal weight soft-point in their place
to use for hunting!

The way  I look at it is that if folks are afraid to use
corrosive in their guns, they are just leaving more for
the ones of us who do use it to have fun with!!!

my  2 cts.

Corrosive vs. Non-Corrosive ammo

There is nothing wrong with corrosive and I have used a lot of it but I am getting out of shooting it to reload for my Milsurps. I can load cast loads using faster shotgun powders for  just as low a price if not more and be powerfull enough to puch paper and for the most part probably be more accurate. If I want hunting loads all I have to do is change powder loads and I am right there set to go.  Some of the Turk 8MM shot good but I am sure I can make loads that will shoot tighter and not have the recoil that the 8MM Turk ammo does. Same with the 762x54. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
