Jump traps

Why did jump traps go out of production? Some trappers really liked them in their posts. I know they had to be positioned correctly to work right, but were compact, light, and held well.

Dont really know that question as i still use them from the nbr 1 thru nbr 4 . I like the nbr 1 1/2 jump blake and lamb for mink and the other brands i use for weasels in boxes. the trap jumps up and gets a body grip and weasel expires quickly, no blood and clean pelt.

With the advent of coilsprings, jump traps fell into disfavor with the majority of the trappers.Sales of jump traps were miniscule, and lead to their demise.
