for what it's worth, this one is made of tube: http://www.gboreloaded.com/forums/index.php/topic,115820.120.html

Not much to it... find a tube that fits, weld a couple of ears on it, and you are done.

There are charts of various tubing sizes on the net. Black iron, schedule 40 both are possibilites that I have used.

The one in the linked thread are 360 degrees of tube. I have also cut tube in half to make something closer to traditional. If you look back further (page 2 I think) in the same thread you will see something like that.

Here is a quote from a thread called "backyard cannon fun" You should rifle thru this stuff pretty fun., any way here is the way i do it on a 1" trunnion., but you can do it this way with any size pipe that fits your trunnion.

Quote
Trunnion cap bending technique aye?
For me its easy., I am using a cut  piece of 1" water pipe in half for its length. then set it on the trunnion with the cannon in place., If its good its good..., if its not., I hold the piece of water pipe with a vise grip and grind it until it does fit., then I have a piece of steel welded on either side., then I drill the steel ..., then set the cannon and the cap in place and I can then drill the wood a bit for bolt hole location.

For outdoor usage I do use a tube (Pipe) I usually weld a cover over the outside  then grind it down pretty...., then weld the ears on where she lays ., and  packem' full of grease., otherwise there gonna  rust . that's of course if your using steel on  steel  or Iron.

Here  is a small set of what I mean.

Full Pipe.

Half Pipe.

And Full Pipe.

I hope this helps.

Oh thats not up to me lance., DD and Cat can have any and all photos I got tho for this sort of thing., here is a little documentary on a 1" bore 6 pounder I built you might find this fun to look at. I was trying to build Low-Riders out of them...., toys really.  http://tropico.ph/Gallery/Building-small-ordinance   .

Also here is a Sled I made for my Bronze Mortar Powder Keg built for me. It too has 1/2 pipe trunnion caps ., I wanted these a little differant so we welded some 7 1/16' rod onto the trunnion cap ends.

Personally Tropico, I have been absorbing Spar Varnish thru my skin as a dietary suppliment for the last 6 weeks.

I put a final coat on this morning and put the can away.

I wonder if spar varnish withdrawal is treatable?

It is but you will need therapy ...,  and you'll have to have a daily allowance of Iron (about 500lbs daily ) if you expect to get thru this. Keep us posted *Oh avoid any and all lead *

Lance and El Cazadors favorite pic from the 1/3 scale build pics...., much like a "Salad Shooter for Lead"......, these are "Grape Shooters"

Listen to Lance...,Trunnion-Bars are more  healthy and wont require the additional therapy that Dietary Lead would.
