Bow season starts 4 weeks from today
« on: August 18, 2007, 05:31:27 AM »
I have been shooting mine for over a month now and been doing a little bow fishing in these shallow ditches around here. I am ready to draw back on a deer, tired of shooting at carp.  I sure hope the heat lets up before then.

well....if you have a place...I saw a spot on the outdoor channel....of a way to dig a hole , and drop in a small lined "pond".........along a trail or known deer haunt...........make it flush with the ground if possible...maybe a 3 or 4 inch lip....fill a few 55 gallon tanks and fill it....showed how to make a grade or to "trench to it, so rainwater runoff will fill it...all I know is.......every critter in the woods or field would come to it now.........dry as toast ......also said leave a longer branch in it, one that sticks out, so if a varmint fell in , or rodents, it could crawl out and would not foul the tank...
I know alot of folks hunt tanks...or ponds as they call them here.....better check the Missouri legal stuff to see if this is deemed as baiting....I don't hunt tanks except for varmints.....rules may not allow that for deer in MO..

Same holds true in WI, season starts in one month. I am not exactly ready yet, but have been thinking about it.

Ponydog,
Interesting quote from one of my favorite movies.

My boy came over yesterday and we probably let about 100 shots fly apiece over the course of the afternoon. I am very happy with my groups and am ready. As far as the water suggestion, I have heard of people using small wading pools in a similar way. I just would hate having to tote in that much water.
