« on: August 03, 2007, 11:46:56 AM »
Can you shoot 38 SP in a 357 mag barrel?

Thanks.

I haven't done it, but I have seen posts here that others do, followed by a good chamber cleaning before shooting mag rounds in it.

I have shot some lead 38 sp out of mine. They are real quiet. Just a pluogh sound. Of course they shoot lower than a regular 357, there is practically no recoil at all. I think they are quieter than a 22 high velocity. Like Tim said they will leave a lead and burnt powder deposit where the case ends and a little into the throat. If you do not clean it up it can cause high pressures with full house 357s.  ;)
