.30-30 LeverEvolution in the Handi?
« on: August 02, 2007, 03:50:52 AM »
Seems to me I remember reading a few posts indicating poor performance (accuracy wise) from Handi Rifles using Hornady's new .30-30 wonder ammo.  Anybody have a positive experience?

I've picked up a few boxes to try in my Marlins, but I haven't broken out the Handi yet.

I have not tried them in my handi the first kind I got shot dog gone good so I left it alone. I did try some in my M94 they were everywhere on a 12"x12" target.I put what I had left in the bottom of the gun cabinet and that is where they are now.

My experience shooting them from my Handi was not good.  5 3/4 inches @ 100yd. My best was with Win 170 grain PPs - 1.6 inches @ 100 yd.  They were shot with a 2-7 Bushnell scope.

Shoot great in my marlin 336.   I haven't tried them in my handi yet.  My hand loads do so well, probably never will.

As good as the plain old cheap Remington 150gr shoot in my 30-30 Handi, the Leverevolution would have to shoot pretty darn good to beat em!! ;D

I shot one three shot group with the Leverevolutions in my Handi and it was so bad I didn't shoot another. My handloads with 170 gr. Hornady FP and W748 shoot very well, so I'll probably never shoot the factory rounds again in the Handi. However, they do shoot into an inch at 100 yards in my 336A, so they will be used.

Well, thanks, guys. Anyway, I guess you've substantiated my memory.

Tim, my Handi loves plain, green box stuff, too-both flavors.  'Spose this is a case of, "if it ain't broke..."

Leverevolution 30-30 ammo is great in both my 336's but as mentioned, not so good in the Handi 30-30 it loves  Remingtons and my hand loads.

i tried them in 45-70 in my BC and i have to say that they were all over the place. my rifle anyway seems to like the Remington 300 gr so i will stay with Remington while i experiment with them and others and hand loads.
