Has anyone here owned or recently bought a Savage rimfire Bolt Action?
They look interesting. Already free-floated from the factory. I know that some people do not like Savages, but there again I have heard good things about them. Feedback appreciated.

The only bad thing I have ever heard about savage is that the triggers leave a lot to be desired and I think that depends on how fussy the user is on triggers. Some have them and live with the stock triggers others get replacement triggers or have a trigger job done if that is possible on the savage I never had one done so I do not know. I hear they are accurate once the trigger is done and they certainly are reasonable in price. I got rid of a Savage striker 22 mag because I did not like the trigger and was not willing to put a different trigger on it but that was my decision try the triggers at a gun store on a Savage and if you like it or can live with it then buy it. I own a savage 93m 22 magnum.the only problem i have with it is that the clip is tough to get in. the trigger has a nice strong feel and can shoot a 1/4 inch grouping at 50 yards with the winchester super x brand of ammo.

I have MarkII that I replace the trigger, it's a keeper!

I have a Model 93 and love the sub .5 inch groups it will shoot at 50 yards, have shot some other Savage models that also shoot very tight groups. I think its the best gun for the price, the one I have will shoot much better than some more expensive rimfires I have. Good luck.

I have a MkIIGL that I like. It has a heavy trigger that I tried to have a gunsmith make lighter, like 2 or 3 lbs, but he refused because of liability.

It is a standard weight barrel, I have a 2X scope on it and it groups about 1.5 inches at 50 yards. It would do better with a lighter trigger.

Must be something about Savage Triggers that will not let you adjust them safely and that is why every one replaces them maybe?? I have no Idea but most smiths trigger work is their bread and butter work do it all the time! Jim

I have a Savage/Stevens model 86D. It was given to my Dad when he was a kid. I believe back in 1950-52. His uncle worked for the company. Anyway the trigger is kind of loose but I'm used to it. The thing is awsome, extremely tight groups. I like when I go plinking with friends and get on the target better than those scoped guns. (Inside the 50yd range anyway :wink: )
