Stock Finish - Rottenstone Method

I've got about 12 coats of Tru-Oil Completed. I'd like to try the Rottenstone Method to Finish. What is the Procedure? And, are there any alternatives that are as good?

Stock sheen is a mixture of wax and rottenstone it gives a satin finish and makes the stock smooth, its made by Birchwood Casy also.
You can buy rottenstone and mix it with  a liquid wax and apply it with a rag, let dry and wipe it off and buff with a soft rag. you can use mineral oil instead of wax but wipe it off right away. be gentle when wipping on and off,.

The TruOil finish is very gloss. The rottenstone is used to lower the shine. I will not use the material any more as it's quite hard on my checkering tools.. To get the same results and faster than rottenstone use 0000 (4 '0') steel wool. Lightly polish the stock with the steel wool and wax with a good carnuba bearing wax. The wax will water proof the finish and the steel fur will soften the shine. If its too dull polish with denim to restore a tiny bit of shine. There are other abrasives that can be used for the same effect.
