hello out there,i would like to purchase a new 1895gs in 45-70 and would like to know if they all come ported :)

They come in a ported version as well as non-ported....  The one that I picked up in January is NOT ported.  I know that Dick's Sporting Goods carries the non-ported models.

I believe all the currently manufactured ones are non-ported. There was a period when they were available ported, but I think there were problems with the porting, especially for the guy sitting at the next bench!

My 45/70 Guide Gun is not ported, but I have a 44 Mag Guide Gun that is. Personally, I like the ported ones better, but they aren't available anymore.

I go the other way. Muzzle blast bothers me more then recoil. But i do agree with you that the 44p is one sweet little gun. Id sure like to find one of the few that was made without ports to go with the ported one i have.

All the new ones are non-ported thankfully.  I have the 1895GS and it doesn't need ports.
