What would the velocity difference be approximately between the two? Does the .357 pretty much burn up all the powder in 16"? Also I can't seem to find what the weights of the rifles are for the two, does anyone know? thanks

brasschaser, If it burns in a handgun certainelly it will burn in a carbine. I would get the barrell length that felt best to me. Mine is a marlin 1894cp. It is 16&1/4" and feels great. Regards, Byron

I have a 16" Rossi and a Winnie of app 20" and both are very very accurate and hit with plenty of energy. I just don't know the velocity difference between them. I agree with just getting the one that feels best to you. I really like both of mine, but the Winnie being a 1920's vintage that was converted in the early '60s' get gentler treatment. The Rossi gets everything thrown at it and eats it up. I've come to really like the little Rossi trapper.

My new PUMA 92 by Legacy Sports is .357cal. with 20" barrel. Just got through sighting it in with the factory installed iron sights. I used 'Jack O'Connor's instructions. He didn't mention anything about barrel length for this test. He advised beginning at 12 1/2yds to get the bullets on the paper. I'll attach my results below.
By the way. It was hard for me to seperate the black sights from the black target bull even at this close range. So some of my hits varied because of this.
