Since I have a smallbore (223) and medium bore (30-30) barrel fro my G2 carbine now, I was thinking of a 375 Win or 38-55 barrel, so I'd have a large bore also. Since the G2 is chambered from the factory for the 375 Winchester (and therefore can handle the pressure generated), would it be possible to fire 375 Win ammo in a 38-55 G2 barrel? The main differences being the length of the chamber (the 38-55 being longer), and the thickness of brass (the 375 being thicker), it would seem that it would not pose a problem.
If it is safe, I would prefer the 38-55 barrel, and occasionally fire 375's through it, for a bit more ammo versatility.
Anybody have an opinion, or experience with this topic?
Thanks,
Mike
