Added lead shot
« on: August 10, 2007, 04:18:49 AM »
to the butt of my BC moved the POB to where it should be also tamed it considerably. I also put a lower sight on the front.404 my POA had the others maxed out a 100 and was still a little low, the new front sight has a POA of 1" above the bull at 100 at the lowest setting. Will make it easier to shoot at longer distance. I traded for two more 45/70's one is a Sharps with  a high priced tang sight (still trying to get it right) and a M-1867 Remington rolling block that has had the rear sight removed and a tang sight installed (cheaper than the other) it has been easier to use than the high priced one (simpler).
Said this to say that the BC gives up nothing in accuracy against even the much higher price Sharps rifle.

I have a couple lead filled pipes that are custom fitted to the BC stock bolt hole, they're a lot easier to swap out than loose lead shot and with a little leather pad, work in other stocks too. The .404 17a front sight is real popular with a bunch of BC shooters here, love mine, specially with the Lee Shaver inserts!! ;)
