i know i've told this one before, but the article in Gun Digest years ago, "Out of Bounds Rounds" told of the 55 gr' Hornady spire points being Very effective on whitetails and mulies out of .223's and .22-250's or .220 Swifts. today Hornady loads their 60 gr' spire point in the .22-250 for whitetail deer. it is a very effective bullet, much beyond what you'd expect, and its price is very reasonable.
i recommend you try them. i've loaded 'em for a landowner who has gotten Excellent results with both spire points, even in 1-in-12" twist rates in a .223.
the 55 gr spire point told of in that old Gun Digest was the one with NO cannelure.
