FINALLY GOT TO THE RANGE - Rossi Single Shot .30-06
« on: August 17, 2007, 08:27:10 AM »
::) Owned this rifle a few months.  I didn't like the rear sight so I put on a better - Williams - and prayed that it would be lined up.  I thought about putting a scope on it but couldn't remove the screws to put on the base...but decided that this would be a bang around, truck and opportunity gun.  So down to the range I go.  Put the bull at the top of the front post - dead center.  Did it twice more - a little higher but dead above.  Third shot almost in the second hole.  It was hot and I was wearing a shirt and no extra pad so the recoil in this light rifle was more than a bolt action rifle.  Glad I used the 150 grain!

I was getting my .22's sighted in and spent most of my time on them.  I will try this rifle at 50 yards and 100 yards - that will be my max for this rifle.  First impressions - I'm pleased. ;D

Glad it worked out for you. I also have the same rifle. I bought it new, so the scope rail came with it. I put on a 3x9x40 scope and got it sighted at 1oo yds. I used it several times after and started to wonder all over the target. It turns out my scope mounting screws came loose. After a little Locktite and re-sighting, it shoots just fine. One thing I noticed with it is ,once the barrel  heats up I get a lot of flyer's. Reloading a nice 110gr. round for it.
