6.5x55 shooters,

If you could have only one powder for the 130-140gr bullets which would you choose and why?  Thanks,

Alan

H4831SC

Superb accuracy
"Extreme" powder, i.e less sensitive to temperature changes
Excellent working pressures with 130-140 gr bullets in the 2700-2900 fps range
Excellent loading density
Excellent consistency lot to lot
"SC" consistent through powder thrower

Go slow for the Swede.  R-22 is one of the most popular powders out there for the 6.5.  Give it a try!

Reloder 19 has worked very well for me with 125 to 140 grain bullets in the 6.5x55.

140 grain+ bullets I've had good luck with 4350, 4831, R22, slow burn speed with heavy bullets = accuracy in the 6.5x55.  T

My daughter shot two 4" groups at 300 yds using varget and 120 gr. Sierras while We were sighting in our antelope guns.  She was using a 24" encore, 3x 9 scope and the wind was gusting at least 10 mph.   Her groups were about 4 inches on the down wind side of the bull. I forgot the stand for the chrony and don't know the velocity but the loads were 1 grain under max in the Sierra manual.  I use Varget in .308, .223, and the 6.5x55.   I like RL-22 and 140gr bullets  for light target loads in my Swedish Mausers.
