question on optics
« on: August 15, 2007, 10:15:55 AM »
found a scope a Leupold vari-x III 1.5x5x20 was thinking of buying one for my cva optima elite 308 i normally hunt deer at ranges between 20 feet out to 100 yards will this be plenty of scope as i don't want a big heavy scope and its usually really brushy where i hunt most shots are 30 to 50 yards what would you recommend and are there other scopes of this size and quality for cheaper prices if so let me know i liked how clear this scope was when i looked through it but didn't have much to compare it to at the time.i also liked the lifetime warranty. but the price was high i thought 400.00  any input would help thanks

The scope your looking at is an excellant scope and will do far more than your looking for. If your wanting somethink that is alot cheaper and will do what you want you might consider a fixed 2 1/2 X Leupold. I havd had one on my muzzle loader for several years and took 1 deer this year at 289 ( This was lazered.) yrds. with it, and point of aim was pleanty good enough to hold a 4 in. group at that range. That`s good for a heart shot if your gun will do it.
