Scope Mount Question?
« on: August 19, 2007, 09:42:42 AM »
Does anyone make a mount to use a small Red Dot like a J.P. - Optima Type on a F.A.?  These little tubeless sights usually come with a base to attach to a Weaver rail.  The sight doesn't require a long base as it is very short and wouldn't look right mounted on a normal long base.  Would be nice if someone make a little base that just dropped in the rear sight channel for these little sights.

Contact SSK Ind. I called them a few years ago about such a mount and they did have something. However, I ended up using different optics, and never ordered whatever they had available. I'm sure they can customize a T'SOB to work for you if nothing else.

Yes someone does.  There was a poster currently unavailable Sixgunner.com forum that showed a Doctor Optics on a FA....but I can't remember who made the base  ???  sorry.

Get the Leupold base.  Drops right into the rear sight slot.  They are dual dove tail and should take about any ring for dot sights.

Steve,
The JP / Optima / Doctor is not tubular. The Leupold, or any other similar base & standard ring configuration won't work. It will require a single Weaver type slot, or other special configuration.

In the next few months we should have a mount ready for the Trijicon and JP Enterprises red dot sights.  I can't give you an exact time but we are working on it.

E.aurther brown has a tasco optima base,  and i just bought the pride / fowler special ops sight which is something like a doctor sight only a lot better, the dot is round and is not to bright [ dot flair] as in the optima and the all generations of the doctor sight.     p/f also makes a base for the freedom arms,  i used there weaver base and put it on my ssk base.   you can get the sight & base  at midway.  bob
