Painted my MTN Guide, what do you think?
« on: July 30, 2007, 03:51:09 AM »
Got a little creative this weekend and finally found some Krylon "Webbing" paint at the local Joann Fabrics (I had my wife take me ;))
I bought a can of the Black.I painted the stock with Krylon OD Green and then applied the Webbing while the Green was still tacky. Then sprayed it with 2 coats of Krylon "Satin" clear coat.I think it came out alright.......

This is the rifle that I will be taking with me to Alaska this fall for Goat and Sheep. It is the Rem 700 MTN Guide chambered in .308.I have a Leupold VX-II 3-9x33 "Ultralight" mounted in Tally Lightweights. All done up it weighs a ittle over 6 pounds.Should be a dream to carry.

Looks good. You will have to keep us posted about the hunt. Best of luck on the hunt.

Very nice indeed! Your rig with scope/mounts weighs half of what mine do  ;D

I can't take my eyes off your rifle. How about you send it to me so I can get a better look at your paint job?

Good luck on the hunt and get back in here with some good stories afterwards!  ;)

Looks like you did an excellent job on this!  Obviously, I'm partial to the .308 and I used to have one in a Remington 700.  Wish I still had it.
Good luck on your backstrap adventure!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I have looked high and low for one of these "mythical" Remington MTN Guide's since I first heard about them a couple years ago (when I was living in Alaska). I sure would've liked one then instead of hiking with my 9 1/2# Remmy 700 .300 Weatherby. Just by luck I walk into the local Cabelas and low and behold they had this one and in 7-08. Snatched it up so quick my Wife thought I was going into convulsions  :o

Oh yeah,Sniper,I really appreciate your offer but I think I am going to pass  ;)  But if you want to send me a check I can send you a new one.

Nice job looks great!I got an old rem 600 that I put a brown precision synthetic on and think I will paint it and use that webbing paint like you did.

      Thanks Alan
