Field Report - Swift 4X Pistol Scope
« on: November 19, 2002, 03:53:47 PM »
Debated for a long time before plunking down some bucks for a Swift Pistol scope to add to my collection.  Posted a few questions on some of the other boards, and received great comments about the Swift line of scopes.  The guys over on the Go Go Varmint Go board really liked them, and they are a tuff crowd to please!

Ordered one last week, and it arrived for a Sunday shooting session at the range.  Weather was nasty.  Rain, low clouds just plain old nasty weather, but this would make for a good test.

After bore sighting it on my neighbors front door lock, off to the range.  First three shoots were low and to the left.   Measured the distance and counted the clicks.  2nd 3 shot group, elevation was dead on, and was 2 inches out to the left.  Made the corrections, and let three more fly.

Walked down to the 100 yard line and took a look.  Best group I had ever fired with this barrel.  A nice 3/4 inch 3 shoot group out of the 10" 30-30.  I was one happy camper.

In the bad conditions, the scope was clear and sharp.  Click adjustments were on the money.  This scope has 1/2 inch clicks at 100.  I would like the 1/4, but for a $90.00 scope I can live with it.

A couple other die hards came down and took a look through it.  They were all impressed...

On Monday evening, took it out to the deer stand in bright sunny conditions.  Again, optics were clear and sharp.  I think we have a winner!

Only time will tell how well they hold up, but I ordered 2 more.  I suppose that tells you how well I like them...

I also have tried a swift scope and was like you kind of impresed with it I mounted a 4x12 on a 223 I picked up at the gun show a couple weeks ago and its alowing me to shoot less than an inch with the rifle at 100 yds here.  Dont know if I would want to try it with a heavy recoiling rifle as it just dont seem to be as stout as my redfields/weavers/etc.etc.  JIM

I was going to post and ask for feedback on Swift Scopes as I noticed E A Brown (advertiser on this site) has a pretty good deal on them. I've never used them before, but heard they were decent. I'm glad to see that they seem OK in field tests as the price is reasonable. Thanks for the good info.
