I just put another gun that I did not plan to buy on layaway at Jay's.  It is a 5 1/2" blue Taurus Gaucho in .45.  I was not looking for one of these, and if I had been, it would have been a 4 3/4" in polished stainless.  Here's the kicker.  $230.  At that price, how could I refuse another .45?  I looked it over and it is 'as new', no marks on it, with the box and all.  Bright polished black finish and a nice action feel to it.  It looks like someone bought it, took it home and shot a cylinder full through it and brought it back.  And I think I know why.  I looked at the front sight and it leans to the right, which means the gun is going to shoot left of the POA.  But that is an easy fix, just turn the barrel in a little tighter and that will straighten the front sight and move the POI to the right.  I was wondering if Taurus would do this for me but I looked at their websiite and their 'lifetime warranty' policy.  Nope!  Sights are excluded.  So I will have to have Marshall or Mike turn the barrel for me.  I will keep you informed how it goes when I get it out of layaway.  44 Man
This isn't the one on layaway but it's a better picture of it than what Taurus has on their website!

neat gun pal! You need to invest in a barrel vise of your own. As many fixed sighted guns as you have it would be awfull handy.

Lloyd, I have the blocks for the barrel, but I still need a good bench vise but I have no place to put one!  I guess I could always bring it in to work on a day off.  But then I would miss talking 'guns' with my friends, so I guess I will have to keep taking my projects over to them.  44 man

wow, 44 man great deal. i knew i should've took a trip to clare.jays does have a super layaway program. tham gauchos got a favorable write up in handloader.

Yes they did, and the action feels very nice.  My only drawback with them is that often the 'ears' of the grips frame (where it screws to the frame next to the hammer) are sometimes a little oddly shaped on the gauchos.  Kind of like a tapered slope instead of a clean 1/4 circle shape.  You can see this in the pictures.  The left picture is the Gaucho and the right, a Ruger NV. 
                                 
It's a small thing, but it does make a difference when looking at the clean lines of a Single Action revolver.  Other than that, I think I will be well pleased with the Gaucho for a 'packin' gun.  Well, I MAY have to cut that 5 1/2" barrel to 4" if I really like the revolver.  Then it would be perfect!  44 Man
