I have been just using 21/2" but would like to try 3" if they are safe.

IF it is a factory barrel and it says it can then it is safe.

I use 3" 6 or 3" 71/2 all the time in a 10" contender barrel for grouse here in Maine .

Hey there:

Both cases work fine in the 45/410. They both hit hard, and killed anything I shot with either one. I shoot so many of both, finally got so lazy, I bought another Mec loader, leave one set up for 2 1/2" and the other 3". Makes me a happy loader. Sure have got lazy in my old age.

All the best,

I find 3 inch cartridges work well in my 15 inch barrel.

I have a really old 44/410 and it goes the 3inchers and has a great little pattern up to about 30 yards with all sizes of shot.. never shoot the 44 option just the 410... it is a hoot.

I shot 6 rounds of 2 1/2" through an American Derringer with 3" barrels.  Patterned pretty well at 7 yards, but 6 rounds was enough fun for me, the 45 Colt rounds were more fun to shoot!   ::)
